As usual, I have pulled together some of the more interesting/local'ish events that might get you excited. No doubt I have missed some of your favourites....
I hope the formatting comes out OK. Terminology: Audax: cycle ride at a slow pace. Start at 100k and go further in the summer. Bit like orienteering on the roads. Not a race and brings out the woolly jumper and beard cycle enthusiasts regularly. Usually stop for food/cakes at least twice. Tend to use back roads so hilly yet scenic. Great winter slow training. Any audax entry form can be got from http://www.audax.uk.net/ Sportive: Cycle ride that is half way between audax and full on road race. Routes sign posted. Fuel stops. You have a time chip but you don’t all start at the same time so if you get dropped, just latch onto the next group that comes along! Gold, silver awards based on age/time limits. Anything from 50m-120mile and generally hilly/tough. Becoming really popular and early entry often needed. Triathlon: swim/bike/run as if you didn’t know! |
